On the outskirts of the ancient Egyptian city of Alexandria is the neighbourhood of Smouha where the Security Directorate of the city is located. Smouha became a troubled area during the Egyptian revolution, meaning barriers had to be erected to safeguard the Governorate. |
In earlier times the region was the home of Smouha Equestrian Ground where a variety of equestrian sports were held. I am grateful to Vinny Hinde for the rare racecard for Saturday 29th September 1945 shown below, part of his eclectic collection.
